Nephrocor™ announces Dr. William F. Glass II, MD, PhD, MBA, as Medical Director Richmond, Va. January 26, 2007 –
Nephrocor, a single source laboratory  devoted to the diagnosis of renal disease, is pleased to announce the appointment of William Glass, M.D., PhD, MBA, as Medical Director.

Dr. Glass brings over 20 years experience of studying the mechanisms of chronic renal disease.  He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a PhD in biochemistry and completed medical school and Anatomic Pathology residency training at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.  He has served on the faculty of UTHSCSA, the University of Virginia, and Eastern Virginia Medical School where he was also Chair of the Department of Pathology and Anatomy and Medical Director of the Renal Pathology Service.

Dr. Glass believes that renal pathology is a clinicopathological diagnostic specialty that requires clear and efficient communication and consultation with referring physicians.  “Nephrologists depend on their renal pathologist to combine the available clinical and laboratory data in a way that best supports therapeutic decision-making,” said Dr. Glass upon accepting his position at Nephrocor.

Dr. Glass has been the principal investigator on multiple research projects supported by The National Institutes of Health, The National Kidney Foundation of the Virginias, The Veterans Administration, The American Heart Association, and Satellite Research.  He has published over 30 papers and has made numerous presentations at national meetings.  Dr. Glass is a member of multiple professional societies including The Renal Pathology Society, The American Society of Nephrology, and The International Society of Nephrology, and serves on the Board of the National Kidney Foundation of the Virginias.

Nephrocor is the single source laboratory serving nephrologists throughout the U.S.; providing renal biopsy, RenalVysion™ and chemistry profiles for diagnosis, treatment and management of renal diseases. “Uniting these resources into a single laboratory, Nephrocor will give the pathologist the most comprehensive diagnostic tools available to identify, characterize, and manage the patient’s kidney problems” said Dr. Glass.  Nephrocor’s state-of-the-art laboratory is located in Richmond, Virginia.
